A contractor doing $8M does not have a procurement department. He has a demo, a reference the vendor picked, and a two-year contract. When the tool fails, the cost lands on his crew and his cash flow, and the vendor keeps selling it to the next guy.
DIALED exists to make that harder. We put every tool sold to contractors in one index, name who owns it, read what its terms actually say about your data, and record what contractors run, what they dropped, and why. The record, not ratings.
What your money funds
- The Index stays freeNo paywall, no login, no lead form. A contractor comparing two tools at 9pm gets the whole record.
- Field Tests nobody will pay forTests are produced at cost and the tested company covers it. The companies contractors nominate most often cannot or will not pay. We fund four a year ourselves so cost is never the reason a test did not happen.
- Reading the fine printPrivacy terms, data ownership, and security claims, quoted with a source URL and a date. Slow work, no sponsor.
- Keeping the Standard independentVerification checks a company against published criteria. Backer money is why a failed check can stay a failed check.

What you get
Nothing is behind a paywall. The Index, the Field Guide, the coverage, the board: free, always, to everybody. That is the point.
So backing buys you no access and no perks. Your name goes on the backers page if you check the box, and that is it. If that changes, we will say so here before it does.
One thing we will say up front
We do not take money from companies we cover. If you work for a construction tech company, own equity in one, or represent one, we will refund you. Nothing personal. We just cannot hold anyone accountable while cashing their check.
This is not a donation and it is not tax deductible. DIALED Contractor is published by AC Media Group LLC, a for-profit company. You are funding the work, not giving to a charity.
