Six rules
DIALED Contractor covers technology for residential and light commercial contractors doing $2M to $50M. Six rules govern all of it.
- 01Nobody pays for coverage, placement, or an entry. Not vendors, not sponsors, not backers. There is no rate card because there is nothing to sell.
- 02Conflicts are disclosed. On the page, next to the claim, every time. The list of outside relationships is below and it is current.
- 03A Field Test publishes whatever the result is. A vendor cannot review it, delay it, or pull it once the run is done. Declining to participate publishes too.
- 04We report. Contractors judge. We publish sourced facts and what contractors tell us about running the thing. We do not issue ratings, scores, or picks.
- 05Every figure carries its source and its date, and says who supplied it: reported by the vendor, verified by DIALED, or reported by contractors. A vendor claim is never printed as fact. Where nothing can be sourced, the page says so. Not published, not stated, not yet researched. We do not estimate.
- 06Corrections are dated and logged, never silent. The previous value stays visible in the entry’s correction log. Any company we cover can send evidence and have it read, and a vendor can update their own fields at any time. A vendor cannot edit contractor reports, retention figures, or Field Test results.
Outside work
John consults and holds advisory roles outside DIALED. Those companies are still covered here, under the same standard as everyone else. Outside work never changes a contractor report, a retention figure, or a Field Test result. Those come from contractors and from testing, and no relationship touches them.
XBuild
John Dye was the founding go-to-market executive at XBuild (Firemaps, Inc.) from August 2024 to July 2026. XBuild is covered under the same standard as every other company, using only publicly available sources. This disclosure appears on every piece, Index entry, and episode where XBuild is mentioned.
Where the money comes from
Contractors can fund this work directly. We do not take money from companies we cover, including through their employees or customers, and we refund contributions we identify as coming from them. Back the work.
Summit sponsorship buys presence at the event. It does not buy coverage, an Index entry, or an episode.
We take no affiliate revenue today. If that ever changes, every affiliate link will be labeled as one and it will not affect what gets covered.
Corrections
Errors are corrected on the page with a dated note. We do not silently edit. Vendors and contractors can file a correction on any entry, with evidence.
Send the claim and the source to correction@dialedcontractor.com. If we got it wrong, we fix it and log the change with the date, and the previous value stays visible in the entry’s correction log. If we got it right, we say that and show the source we used.
